5 ways to have more “me” time

It’s very easy to get caught up in the strains and stresses of a hectic every day life, but making time for yourself should be a priority, whether it be for just 5 minutes a day.

Today I am going to share with you 5 tips and tricks that I use to take a step back and spend some time with myself.

 

Write it down

Sounds simple, but I find that a couple of minutes of jotting things down in a little notepad helps. Usually at the end of the day, I write down how I felt and highlights of the day. It’s great to look back on to see if there’s a trend due to certain events etc.

 

Yoga/stretching 

Yoga and stretching is good for the mind and the body. I find the time first thing when I wake up, or if i’m running late, at night when I get home. Just 5-10 minutes is beneficial and it relaxes everything.

I recommend the “Love Your Body” routine by Tone It Up  and Blogilates “Feel Good Soul Stretches”.

 

 A good long soak

Another one of my favourites is a good ol’ bath. A looong soak complete with a relaxing Spotify playlist is one of the best ways to wind down and have some time to yourself. Bubbles compulsory.

 

Put the kettle on

A nice cup of tea with a chocolate digestive or 2 is always a winner, and it’s a known fact that a cup of tea is a big hug in a mug. I absolutely love green tea (Twinings fudge melts, anyone?) but if i’m feeling a bit more traditional, it’s definitely an English breakfast tea with a splash of milk and half a sugar!

 

Music makes the world go round

Finally, the last of my 5 tips is to get your headphones and listen to a few of your top tunes! Sticking on your favourite songs and having an epic lip sync battle with yourself makes you uplifted and in high spirits which is how everyone wants to feel. I do this far too often, but I love a good cheesy pop song. Lookin’ at you, S Club 7.
