Here’s Why I Don’t Get The La La Land Hype

8th February 2017

If you haven’t heard of La La Land by now, where have you been? With 7 Golden Globes firmly under its belt and an astonishing 14 Oscar nominations, it has well and truly taken the world by storm.

Truth is….I didn’t like it.

Yep, you read that right. Shocker. How could I?!

I wanted to love it, I really did. I don’t particularly like musicals, so I didn’t have high hopes, albeit I wanted it to prove me wrong.

While some of you could say they didn’t sing enough, I was perfectly fine without them breaking into song every three seconds. I did have to laugh at the beginning of the film, imagine being stuck in a traffic jam on the M60 and people start dancing left, right and centre.

With Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone starring, it should’ve been fantastic. Don’t get me wrong, they were both absolutely phenomenal as always. It’s the story line that let it down.

It started off alright, I could cope with it. Pretty cliché, yes, but alright. The ending however….no. I left the cinema feeling annoyed. I’m not telling you why, I’ll just hope that someone just knows why I was so annoyed.

It wasn’t all bad. My highlights include Emma Stone’s hilarious facial expressions and of course, Mr Perfect-Human-Being aka Ryan Gosling.

However, it’s very unlikely you’ll see me rushing out to buy the DVD. While it was better than I anticipated, with Ryan and Emma 100% deserving the copious amount of nominations, I just don’t get why it has been so hyped up.

What did you think of La La Land?

I’m not eager to get and see LaLa Land myself. Looks a bit annoying and I don’t get all the hype with Ryan Gosling either x

I’m with you, totally don’t get the hype at all. It’s nothing in comparrison to old musicals and actually quite boring.
