If you’ve not heard of Man-Fran, you soon will!

Starting from today, Virgin Atlantic are the first ever carrier to provide direct flights between Manchester and the beautiful Northern Californian city of San Francisco.

If you’ve ever dreamed of snapping shots of the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge or visiting the historic Alcatraz, the airline are offering direct flights three times per week.

According to experts, Manchester is on the cusp of a dramatic shift in work and lifestyle patterns, as well as culture, with Virgin Atlantic’s new route set to boost the local tech economy and lead to a rise of ‘super-commuting’ between the two cities. As eight out of ten Mancunians feel thriving San Fran is “an American version of Manchester”, it is predicted that regular business travel will become more common.

Both cities are famous for their wet weather, trams, music and LGBT scenes. A majority of Manchester’s residents feel the American twin has more in common with the British city than London.

Opening up an array of opportunities, both cities bring an engaging culture of innovation to the table and are sure to grow closer thanks to Virgin Atlantic’s prosperous new route.

Return flights from Manchester to San Francisco start at £636
