Dream Winter Sun Holiday Destinations

24th October 2017

I’m back today with – finally – another travel post. Travel is one of my favourite things to write about and I DO have a few posts from my Summer getaways planned to get up, but I’ve just been mega busy with University and haven’t had the time to get those written up, yet. As all my adventures are done with for the year (hit me up with your 2018 suggestions), I’m thinking ’bout all those destinations I could’ve been in if I’d booked a Winter Sun holiday.

There’s nothing better than sipping on a cocktail or five at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on a Monday while you post another hotdog or legs photo. Meanwhile, your work colleges are seething as they’re scrolling through Instagram instead of finishing that paperwork for Jackie in accounting.

If I were as lucky as to be going away in the winter months, there’s a long, long list of destinations I’d love to escape to. I’ve narrowed it down to my top five, so if you’re after a bit of inspo for your last-minute trip or are planning ahead for next Winter, there should be somewhere that’ll tickle your fancy.

Canary Islands

Flights from Manchester: 4.5 hours

Average Temperature November-February: 20-21°C

The Canary Islands are a popular year-round destination that are perfect for the winter months. Holidays are relatively cheap, even the all-inclusive kind. The blue skies, clear waters and picturesque landscapes make these Spanish Islands a firm favourite. I’ve only visited two- Tenerife (around 5x) and Lanzarote, but I’m eager to tick off the rest. The short flight time means you can escape to The Canaries for either a few days or a few weeks.

Cape Verde

Flights from Manchester: 5.5 hours

Average Temperature November-February: 24°C

Sitting pretty in the mid-high twenties, Cape Verde is the hottest place to be if you’re looking for some Winter rays. The collection of Islands have risen in popularity with Brits over recent years and boast gorgeous golden beaches. Situated in the North Atlantic between Portugal, West Africa and Brazil, the islands’ heritage is a mix of the three.

Flights from Manchester: 8 hours

Average Temperature November-February: 26-30°C

Dubai is the height of glitz and glamour, a playground to the rich and famous. Whether you’re a sun-seeker or thrill-seeker, Dubai is a destination that has so much to offer. Soak up the breath-taking sights of some of the tallest buildings in the world, shop ’til you drop in the luxurious shopping centres or relax in the glamorous resorts. Its been 10 years since I visited Dubai, so to go back now and see the changes would be amazing. Temperatures may hit the sizzling forties in Summer, it’s still in the high-twenties throughout the Winter.

Miami, Florida

Flights from Manchester: 12 hours

Average Temperature November-February: 25-28°C

There’s no place like Miami. A city of style, Miami knows how to party. Bars meet miles-upon-miles of sandy beaches, glamourous boutiques line the streets and a distinct Latin influence is alive. If you’re after a week or so of partying in style and indulging in a world of glamour, Miami is where it’s at.

Bora Bora

Flights from Manchester: 18 hours

Average Temperatures November-February: 29-30°C

Bora Bora is my ultimate dream destination and THE place to be in the miserable UK Winter. Reaching the thirties, the paradise islands in the French Polynesia are known for their aqua-centric luxurious resorts which are more than worthy of an Instagram or two. Bora Bora is an oasis of turquoise lagoons, coral reefs and rainforest-tipped peaked. It’s definitely one if you’re looking to splash out and indulge in true bliss.

Where are your dream Winter Sun destinations?
