7 Reasons Why I Love Playa De Las Americas

14th December 2017

Tenerife is somewhere I have been to quite a few times over the years- six times to be exact. It was the first place I ever went abroad to and somewhere I’ve gone back to year after year, with the last time being this past March, when I spent four days on the Island. It’s a place where no matter how many times you visit, there is always something new and more to see than the last time.

The destination where I’ve been the most is Playa De Las Americas, a purpose-built resort on the South of the Island. It’s the perfect destination for everyone, whether you’re a group of friends looking for a place to party or a family of four looking for a relaxing getaway. If you’re wanting to try out the local restaurants by going self-catering or have it all sorted with an all-inclusive package, there’s plenty of resorts to choose from. Holiday Gems know their thing or two about Playa De Las Americas and no matter what your holiday preference is, they have some blummin’ great deals with 7 nights starting at £199 pp!

The Beaches

Playa De Las Americas has some gorgeous beaches just a stone’s throw from the resort centre. It’s home to arguably the most famous beach in Tenerife, Playa de Troya. Different from the usual black sand beaches, this one features fine golden sands, perfect for soaking up the rays with a spot of sunbathing, or if you’d rather, get active with taking part in one of the many water sports on offer.

No Long Journeys To And From The Airport

Tenerife South Airport is less than a 15 minute drive from Playa De Las Americas, so if you’re not a fan of long coach journeys to and from the airport to your accommodation, it’s the place to be.

Year-Round Sunshine

Tenerife is the perfect holiday destination for 12 months a year, with year-round sunshine and warm weather. The island reaches the late-twenties in Summer and is still hitting twenty degrees in the middle of Winter.

Designer Shopping

Shopaholics rejoice! The CC Safari Centre is a shopper’s paradise, with plenty of designer boutiques at discount prices featuring some of the best names in fashion and beauty.

Siam Park

The #1 waterpark (as voted on TripAdvisor) in the world, Siam Park is a Siamese themed waterpark with a wide range of attractions for all the family. The biggest waterpark in Europe, the park has a beautiful Thai theme throughout, with a lush landscape and winding pathways lined with greenery. The attractions are a great mix, whether you’re after an adrenaline-fueled day out or a relaxing visit with family. Only a short journey away, the park is easily assessable from Playa De Las Americas, with many resorts offering transportation. A one-day adult ticket starts at €19.50.

It’s Only 4 Hours From The UK

Short haul lovers, Tenerife takes just over 4 hours from the UK. Less travel time = more time to enjoy your holiday!

The Nightlife

Playa De Las Americas is the party Capital of the Canaries, boasting an impressive strip of bars and clubs. “The Patch” is the place to be, with venues open every single night of the week. The world famous Lineker’s Bar is a must-visit while you’re out and if you’re looking for the chicest beachfront party venue, head to Papagayo Beach Club- rumour has it, it’s a magnet for celebs who are visiting the Island.
