6 of the best festivals around the world

Festivals are a million percent some of my favourite things ever. As soon as Summer hits, I’m all over Pretty Little Thing on a hunt for the perfect sparkly outfit and searching for flights to LA in hopes of finding a proper cheap one and finally making it to Coachella.

I’ve done Reading & Leeds, I bagged a ticket to see Ed Sheeran at Fusion in 2015 and even braved a solo trip to Warped Tour in Brisbane.

There’s so many more left to experience and here a just a handful of the biggest and best festivals around the world.

Hideout Festival, Croatia

I just missed out on this one last year, heading home after my Croatia Island Hopping trip with Busabout a couple of days earlier. Held at the end of June, Hideout Festival is currently in its 8th year, bringing together over 150 artists across 5 days on the stunning Zrce Beach, making it one of the most famous electronic music festivals in the world. As well as performances from some of the best names in music, Hideout has a whole host of parties, including sun-soaked pool parties, secret beach parties and intimate boat parties.

Dubai Shopping Festival

One for the shopaholics,  Dubai Shopping Festival is held between the months of December and January every year. For an entire month, you can get some incredible deals on everything from designer clothing to gold jewellery, as well as being in with the chance of winning some amazing prizes. I’ve found some brilliantly tempting deals on Destination2 Dubai holidays, which is a great excuse for some Winter sun while getting your Christmas shopping done.

Oktoberfest, Munich, Germany

Oktoberfest kicks off at the end of September and it’s that much of a big deal, most of the world celebrates it in some way or another (Manchester Oktoberfest at Albert Hall for example). So what better than to go to the biggest beer celebration in the world? Entry is completely free and you’ll find cheap steins and plenty of traditional German food.

Mardi Gras, New Orleans

After reading Rachel’s USA diary from her Trek America trip back in Autumn last year, New Orleans has been waaay up at the top of my bucket list. Falling the day before Ash Wednesday, Mardi Gras is known as the greatest free show on earth, and rightly so. With lots of colour, feel good vibes and famous parades, it is one of the best days of the year.

Carnaval, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Like Mardi Gras, but with added Brazilian flare. Taking place in the first week of March, expect a non-stop party full of bright colours, giant costume and plenty of samba filling the streets of Rio de Janeiro.

Coachella, Palm Springs, California

If you know me, you’ll know Coachella has been on my bucket list for years, with dreams of rubbing shoulders with A-listers while watching some of the biggest and best in music take the desert by storm. When Sia performed in 2016, it was dubbed “one of the greatest moments in Coachella’s 17-year history” and this year saw Beyonce headlining along with a surprise Destiny’s Child reunion…so yeah, it’s kind of a big deal. Life goal? Make it there before I’m 30.
