8 Reasons why you should use Airbnb for your next trip

14th September 2018

It’s probably a given that you’ve heard of Airbnb, the ultimate destination to find unique holiday rentals all over the world. Airbnb defines itself as a “social website that connects people who have space to share with those who are looking for a place to stay” and has grown at an impressive rate over the 10 years since it was founded in San Francisco.

While a hotel or hostel might be the usual choice while travelling, Airbnb can provide a more homely experience which is sometimes cheaper than alternative means of accommodation.

So with that being said, here are 8 reasons why you should consider using Airbnb for your next trip.

1. Stay in unique places

Airbnb offers everything from your typical loft apartments in the heart of New York City to fairytale treehouses in Florence. There’s the perfect place to stay no matter your style or budget. Oh, and just think of your Insta feeds!

2. No single supplement fees

Holiday home insurance company Schofields carried out some research, surveying 1000 solo travellers aged 18 and above based in the UK, finding that 74% of participants stayed in Airbnb accommodation to avoid the dreaded single supplement charges you get in hotels. More money to spend on souvenirs (and er, cocktails). Winner.

3. £25 off your first trip

Airbnb offers a pretty sweet referral scheme and when you sign up using this link, you’ll get £25 off your first stay. You can refer your own friends and get yourself some free cash when they book a stay. And who doesn’t love free money?

4. You have your own tour guide

Many of the Airbnb hosts will be more than happy to recommend all the best spots in the area, helping you make the most of your trip.

5. Real reviews

There’s no chance of a fake review from Janet, just because her sister’s friend stayed there once and there weren’t enough pillows.  All reviews are from people who have actually stayed and paid.

6. Extra perks

Depending on where you’re staying, most places offer free WiFi and laundry services. If you’re lucky, some even offer free Netflix, food and other extras.

7.  Top level of security

Airbnb pride themselves in their measures of safety when it comes to hosts. Every Airbnb reservation is scored for risk before it’s confirmed, using predictive analytics and machine learning to instantly evaluate hundreds of signals that help flag and investigate suspicious activity before it happens. In addition, hosts in the US are required to have a background check.

8. Live the local life

Finally, staying in an Airbnb is the perfect way to see if you’re equipt for everyday life in a brand new City. You’ll be seeing it with fresh eyes from the perspective of a local and feel instantly closer to the destination.

Have you stayed in an Airbnb before?

I love AirBnb! I feel like there are so many opportunities to stay in less-touristy areas by staying in an AirBnb. The only thing that bums me out is the whole gentrification thing going on with AirBnb, and it becoming illegal in some cities because of it.

Yes definitely! I love how it’s a much more unique experience than staying in a chain hotel. Oh wow I never knew it was illegal in some cities. Thanks so much for reading x
