Hi, i’m Emma! I’m currently living in Manchester but dreaming of a New York loft apartment with a cute lil reading window, but that’s a story for another day.
Welcome to my blog. After countless attempts of joining the blogging world during my teenage years, I finally decided it was time to get serious and Earth To Emma was born in 2015.
Why Earth To Emma?
I get asked this question quite a bit and to put it simply, the name was inspired by one of my favourite bands from when I was a teenager.
All Time Low were (and still are) one of my favourite bands since I was around 16. Alex Gaskarth, the lead singer of the band, had a Tumblr account under the name “earthtoalex”. I was a member of the ATL fanclub so obviously my username had to be “earthtoemma”, having an “earthto” username was THE thing. It sort of stuck and ended up my user for everything.
When I was brainstorming ideas for a blog name, my mum was like “what about your old All Time Low name?” and it just worked. It’s catchy, it’s easy to remember and it just felt right.
What’s it all about?
Travel is something that has been on my mind for as long as I can remember. Childhood family holidays left me dreaming of becoming a holiday rep and Geography lessons at school had me planning my gap year since the age of 12. I’ve lived in Australia, I’ve sailed in Europe and I’ve been lucky enough to make lifelong friends and memories. Documenting my travels here on Earth To Emma, I aim to keep those memories alive while inspiring my readers to plan their dream trip or take a leap and travel solo.
Theatre has become a huge passion of mine over recent years. The thrill of seeing a brand new show and the high you feel afterwards is a feeling I absolutely adore. Best show I’ve seen so far? Mean Girls in NYC.
I don’t feel complete without a sweep of highlighter and I own far too many nude lipsticks. My top travel beauty essential? A classic red lipstick.
When I’m not writing, you can often find me curled up with a good book or binge watching my Netflix favourites.
I love a good chat, so if you have any questions or just want to discuss what you’re up to at the weekend, you’re probably best to reach me via Twitter at @emmagkershaw.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
